(2) To be the central reference for those groups by posting groups descriptions and contact information via our website, maintaining a calendar of upcoming and ongoing homeschool activities and opportunities, and by keeping a current listing of outside enrichment providers.
(3) To provide regional organization of large scale venues that are non-biased and with an open atmosphere powered by volunteers from groups affiliated with HEART.
TIER 2 are individuals or businesses providing outside enrichment opportunities for the homeschool community, or businesses providing services to HEART members at a discount or special rate, or businesses owned/operated by homeschooling families.
TIER 3 are parents who have graduated their children through homeschooling and still desire to participate and contribute to the homeschooling community.
HEART of West Texas is a centralized network of homeschool resources for West Texas. Whether you are searching for a home school support group, a home school friendly business or a tutor/teacher for a certain subject, We hope HEART can help you find it!
HEART of West Texas is considered to be a Christian organization but we do not require Support Groups who join HEART to be Christian in nature or function. What they believe or don't believe does not change their membership status within HEART. Any group supplying support to homeschoolers in our area is welcome. There is not a statement of faith to sign but there is a statement of cooperation to sign. What we desire is for the groups to be willing to cooperate with the stated purpose of HEART, not with our beliefs.
HEART of West Texas does not desire to have input into the inner workings of individual groups. What each group does or doesn't do is totally up to them. We do not desire to act as any type of governing body and be in control of any group's activities. We only want to help facilitate communication between all the area groups. We hope it will be a neutral place for leaders to be able to communicate. A place where one leader can tell the other leaders what their group has coming up and even invite other groups to participate in open events. If a leader wants to pass on the information provided with their members they can, if they don’t want to then they don’t. HEART does not have one-on-one contact with a group’s membership, that would make us a Support Group for individuals and that is not what we desire. We only desire to have contact with the leaderships of groups. We also believe that businesses or individuals that desire to do business with our homeschooling community need to step up and help monetarily. And with required annual renewal of memberships we have the opportunity to keep information up to date.
HEART of West Texas is to remain autonomous. We don’t want HEART to be associated with just one or two individuals but with the homeschooling community.
We desire for our contact information to remain unchanged despite future changes in leadership. We ask our Support Group and Resource members to share in the administrative expenses to retain HEART's independence.
